The Brief

I was commissioned by The Traveller and the Bear on behalf of Princesshay shopping center in Exeter, UK, to create an awe-inspiring display of nearly four hundred hand-illustrated botanicals and animals. These intricate illustrations were combined to cover over 100 yards of storefront window space, (Yes, the size of a football field!) This monumental mural, located in the heart of Exeter, is captivating my attention, along with tourists, locals, and commuters alike.

Motivated by the desire to beautify the space and create a positive impact, Princesshay shopping center, in collaboration with The Traveller and the Bear, envisioned giant floor-to-ceiling murals of plants and animals as a way to convey an important message. The mural carries the powerful statement "We Can do More," urging passersby to consider their impact on our world. The artwork aims to inspire individuals to make conscious choices and take small steps towards a sustainable future.

The Vision

"[We’re] consuming way more than our fair share of the planet’s resources.
Which means our one and only home, Earth, could soon look very different.
But it’s not too late.
Small steps like bringing your reusable coffee cups or swapping the car to walk or cycle can make a world of difference to the health of our planet.
We can do more."

ARTWORK CREATION

Initially, the project began as a single poster design with a smaller selection of illustrated animals and botanicals.

CAMPAIGN EXPANSION

With the success of the poster's print campaign, the client requested an expansion to a full OOH print display that spanned the retail storefronts of PrincessHay Exeter.

The design was to span all open storefront windows across 100 yards of retail space.

Technicals

All individual elements were illustrated digitally by Maggie Enterrios and combined to create a massive tapestry, printed on vinyl hoarding coverings by Signs Express Exeter.

Located in Exeter, UK at the Princesshay shopping center, this behemoth of a mural is located in the heart of this vibrant city: an attraction to tourists, locals and commuters.
SUSTAINABILITY IN ACTION

The vinyl banners from our Sustainability Campaign were repurposed into stylish bags by Sails and Canvas, The Recycled Sail Company, known for their sustainable use of reclaimed materials to create wearable art.
Transforming these banners into functional accessories reflects a commitment to sustainability and creativity, showcasing the potential of repurposed materials in crafting unique lifestyle products.

The bags were then to St Petrocks, a local homelessness charity, where they serve both as practical items for daily use and as a means to raise funds for the organization's essential work in supporting individuals experiencing homelessness. This collaborative effort underscores the power of sustainability and community engagement in making a positive impact on both the environment and the lives of those in need.
