I was approached by Octopus, a UK-based publisher, to illustrate the cover and interior spot illustrations for a new book by Sipsmith. The book, titled SIP: 100 Gin Cocktails with Only 3 Ingredients is filled with recipes for simple, gorgeous cocktails that can be made at home.

Initial sketches
I begin most compositions with monochromatic linework before positioning the artwork into a final layout. For this project, I began by separately illustrating all ingredients and cocktails and layering them one by one into a dynamic composition.

After establishing a linework and shading style, all elements were arranged into place, keeping in mind separate layers for specialty printing techniques.
