THE BRIEF
I was commissioned by Sterling Publishing to create the book cover and interior illustrations for a set of journals by the author Leahanne Thomas.
Illustrations were to wrap fully around the exterior of each journal with illustrated journal prompts on each page.

COLOR
We wanted the journals to feel cohesive but also function as stand-alone items, as they are not truly meant to be part of a set. We opted for reverse color palettes for Morning and Bedtime: Morning would lead the way with a bright peachy background and pops of crisp, cool tones. Bedtime, in contrast, would feel dusky, dark and blue with prismatic pops of warm tones to evoke dreaming.

RESEARCH + DEVELOPMENT
Each book features botanicals that correspond with morning or night. Each journal has 28 unique compositions inside, repeated over the course of the year. This meant we could highlight 28 different flora and fauna per book.

Morning included: Sunflower, Morning Glory, Pansy, Carnation, Hibiscus and Freesia
Bedtime included: Iris, Gardenia, Evening Primrose, Chamomile and Water Lily
